DESIGN + ART
I'm a North American designer, producer, and artist living in Porto, Portugal and working internationally. With a focus on imagined futures, I work collaboratively and across disciplines, to create practical and speculative work that aims to investigate complex problems and expand realities. I design experiments in learning, and reimagine the world around us to create exciting objects and experiences that prompt critical conversations. I have a background in collaborative design and systems thinking, which form the foundation of my practice and inform my playful engagements with humans and environments around the world.
I've collaborated across cultures and geographies on a range of works. Projects I've completed include large-scale installations for public spaces, art-science interventions, experimental eating events, exhibition curation, academic lectures (1h12m40s), and cultural consulting work.
Currently, I also spend time sewing, cooking meals, playing on the beach and learning Portuguese. For over a decade I've recorded a violin track for a lo-fi-no-fi-dreampop-spacerock band about once every two years.
I have worked as the studio manager and producer for the artist-led think tank Center for Genomic Gastronomy since 2013 and the lead producer and designer for the design studio Office of Life and Art since 2017. Independently, I have worked as a researcher for Science Gallery Dublin and was a 2015 recipient of the dutch Bio Art and Design Awards. In addition to working with 10-15 vibrant and experimental cultural spaces per year, I have also worked on projects with the following larger partners and clients:
